The idea: Wicked. A creative horror/thriller that goes beyond the typical slasher, like Dead Poets Society. . . with murder. The cast: Not bad. Milo Ventimiglia (Heroes, Rocky Balboa) isn't a BAD actor just average, Michael Weston deserves more roles as he's more talented than most these days, and Alyssa Milano is always good. The idea is properly executed but regardless of how 'wicked' it actually is. . . it didn't translate as well as it should have to the screen for some reason. The writing gets a little choppy, muddling some romance in with the murder and deceit, which can sometimes spell trouble for films targeting this age group. . . The gore is extremely well . The deaths were also ingeniously invented, placing the medical students in intriguing House-like situations to analyze and diagnose. However, there's something about the film that still didn't sit right and I've no idea what it was. It was enjoyable enough. It was interesting, but mostly predictable. And it was well made, yet still suffered some amateurish elements. But I will say: the final scene. . . superb. As a whole, my interest in the film only rarely waned, so it wasn't a bad experience. Low expectations always work best for this level of film.

Final verdict: 6.5/10. A second viewing might even up this score. Fans of medical mystery shows (like House, M.D.) should enjoy this.

I was not looking forward to seeing this when the mrs' suggested it but i gave it ago and glad i did!
Steve Carell is hilarious as always and Ryan Gosling is cool as f***! Ryan helps Steve get over his broken marriage and finally get with another woman (which he had never done)
funny film, had me watching the whole way through wanting to be Ryan Gosling lol....not just your typical chick flick at all very entertaining,.

World War Z
Just another zombie flick.....
World War Z

Have you seen 28days later? if so you wont need to watch this unless you like American remakes?
Brad Pitts OK as always, storyline goes like this:
Zombie virus
They need a cure
Brad Pitts their only hope
He travels to find it leaving his family
Doesnt find a cure but finds a way to make them 'invisible' to zombies
THE END

it was watchable don't get me wrong, but i was watching my clock towards the end. The special effects were OK (but you see the good bits in the trailer) and the zombies look like zombies nothing mind blowing. if you scare easily you might jump a bit in places like my sister did but overall a disappointing flick - the trailer was awesome and gained some great hype but the rest didn't sustain it.

Con Air

John Malkovich gives a ground breaking performance as Cyrus the Virus in this movie and you won't find a similar performance anywhere else. He and John Cusak actually overshadow Nicholas Cage for the most part of this movie. This movie is just filled with so many things that will keep you entertained and amused from start to finish, leave you extremely satisfied and force you to come back and watch the movie all over again (which i have done myself)
You also wont find such a huge assembly of stars in most other movies either. The same guys wont shy to display their attitudes as well. (Ving Rhames, Danny Trejo, Steve Buscemi)
The cinematography and screenplay are also top notch. This movie was a box office hit and I can't understand why it doesn't have more lovers.

How anyone can give this film a bad review i don't know.
Its a feel good, family film about an underdog who achieves the impossible. The story line isn't amazing, its pretty predictable but who cares its fun and catches your attention.
The films classed as a classic for a reason!
Im sorry piptastic but you cant give this film 2 stars and Epic movie 3??!!

Stoker
Whats with the shoes?!
Stoker

As to be expected - Park has directed this beautifully – a very arty film with great use of sounds and scenery.

As with his Vengeance trilogy I was expecting big things from Stoker which unfortunately didn’t deliver. It was a very slow paced film, with an eerie and sexual feel about it but didn’t really go anywhere. Stoker and India were both psychotic and this was portrayed really well in their acting but Park didn’t allow them to do any shocking acts – although they did murder people the murders were very controlled, were not bloody and were over very quickly.

I finished the film thinking ‘is that it?’ , a shame really because his previous work has impressed me – maybe the Americans just cant do it as well as the Koreans??

easily one of the best comedies every made. The characters are hilarious in their own ways, and the bond comes through on screen.
From the pale ale, the apple pie, band camp and MILF American Pie set its mark and 14years on its still as strong as ever.

The best of the bunch
Fast & Furious 6

Easily the most entertaining film of the franchise. The stunts were OTT, the gun fights were awesome, it was funny and they didn't concentrate on the cars they were driving and it just made it an enjoyable watch. Nice little cameo at the end by Jason Statham ready for the next one and i personally cannot wait for it. The films for me will never get old.

I must say, not a huge fan of Rom Com's but this one is really good. Ive watched it several times and enjoyed it just as much on each viewing.
Mila & Justin's chemistry is great and Loved Woody Harrisons character - very funny guy.
the story is predictable but doesnt make it the same as all the rest. worth a watch or 2 especially for Milas Bare bum! ;-)

The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift
Shouldnt have been made
The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift

It doesn't fit into the Fast & Furious boxset in anyway. it MIGHT have been better if it was simply called Tokyo Drift and not linked to the franchise but as a viewer i was expecting so much more. The same story, the same cars with the original cast would have been fine but the lead actor in this was nothing more than an annoying hillbilly!

If you watch this fine pretend its not a fast and furious film.

Who Killed her???
Mystic River

Thats the question you ask yourself throughout the film....

Sean Penns daughter is killed, and his 2 child hood friends are connected with her murder - 1 the cop (Kevin Bacon) and the 2nd the Suspect (Tim Robbins)

All 3 give a fantastic performance and if you haven't already seen this film go buy it now! I wont give anything away :)

Captain America: The First Avenger
Mediocre..
Captain America: The First Avenger

The action scenes: at no point is Captain America in any danger nor do you really care about his character. He has basically no character flaws at all.

The visual effects: except for the impressive digitalizing of Steve Rogers before he becomes Captain America, the CGI looks basically like the same quality as the Matrix Redloaded at some points, didnt blow me away at all.

The acting: Okay. No real stand out performances

I liked the references to Tony Starks Father but the rest of the story bored me a bit. Havent watched it since the cinema and dont intend to unless its on the TV and the remotes to far away!

The Basketball Diaries
DiCaprio....Take A Bow
The Basketball Diaries

The story follows a young high school basketball star (Di Caprio) and his friends (which include Mark Walberg)
They’re all promising young stars but get involved with drugs. Di Caprio gets hooked on Heroin and takes a downwards spiral into becoming homeless, robbing stores and getting arrested.

The acting in this film is 1st class and the storyline gritty and down to the bare bone of drug addiction and what comes with it.Theres a scene where DiCaprio is locked in a room to get him off the heroin which is brilliantly acted out.

Great film, Great Cast, Great Movie.

Bacon is a great actor in this, its one of the few films i can watch again and again and still enjoy.
Kevin Bacons character starts seeing visions of a girl who used to live in the area, and uses these visions to find clues to her bodies where abouts....

Great Horror Flick
[REC]

The way it's filmed helps us to live this "nightmare" as it was for real, as if it was a news article. The "suspension of disbelief" works unlike some other titles I have seen. I'm a big horror movie fan and I must tell you: you have to see this.
The subtitles dont bother me in films but if you find subtitles hard to read just watch itll still scare you!

The Possession
Not just another exorcism film
The Possession

I wasn't expecting much from this, never been a fan of exorcism films but i really enjoyed it.
Had a strong cast, the director let you get to know the characters which helped you appreciate how they were feeling when the youngest became possessed - The film wasn't rushed, it went at a nice pace and didn't feel 'fake' . Jeffery Dean-Morgan was great and would recommend this film to anyone.

Mama
Dont annoy Mama!
Mama

i was disappointed to be honest, Guillermo del Toro is a great producer and after the first half an hour i thought to myself ' this is going to be great!', but then he introduced Mama as a visible character and it all got a bit silly - Mama looking like a slightly fatter Sarah Jessica Parker.
Typical Horror with potential, give it to the Japanese they'll show you how to do it!

This film made its mark on every child born in the 90's and to this day i see it everywhere.
Rumors have it there's a 3rd to be made but i am hoping for the sake of the Ghostbusters reputation this isn't true.
The film is fun, has a fantastic cast and does nothing more than entertain you. I will always love this film and cant wait to watch it with my son when hes a bit older :)

Revenge...
Oldboy

Easily the best Tartan Film movie ive seen. Its the 2nd part of Park Chan-wook's vengeance trilogy (the 1st being No Sympathy for Mr Vengeance and the 3rd Lady Vengeance)
A middle aged man is kidnapped and imprisoned and has no idea why, he spends the time slowly going crazy and teaching himself new disciplines and martial arts. Now, he has been given five days to learn his captor's true identity and find out why he was imprisoned, or his new love interest will be killed.
What happens next is directed perfectly and i love this film!

Seven Days
Fantastic Film
Seven Days

I don't watch many french films but this one stuck out to me with the story line so thought id give it a go...
its a very gritty film, and leaves nothing out. You see the little girl laying there dead and raped (a British film wouldn't have shown this) and its little things like this - as disturbing as it is to watch that makes the film what it is- because lets face it, this stuff happens and it only helps you connect more with the father. He carries out 7days worth of pain onto the man who took his little girls life, and you want nothing more than him to do more whilst watching it because of the horrific crime he did and the way he talks about her after wards.
I would recommend a watch but not for anyone who upsets easily or is easily disturbed.

Disturbing
Grotesque

One of the most (if not the most) disgusting and sickening films to be made.
It has 3 characters - the Doctor/Torturer and the young couple who get tortured.
It involves a lot of blood, fingers being chopped off, limbs being slashed, nipples being cut off, and all to 'sexually satisfy' the doctor.
I can see why its banned in the UK and am concerned to how one man can produce such a film, but at the same time i couldn't stop watching it just to see what the doctor came up with next!

Boyz n the Hood
One of my favourites...
Boyz n the Hood

This has been one of my favorite films since the 1st time i saw it. John Singleton made his name with this film and i can even count the amount of times ive watched it.
Its mainly about Tres (Cuba Gooding Jnr) whose a good kid in a bad neighborhood, he see's the drugs, the violence and his friends murdered.
John singleton doesn't leave anything out of this film he simply shows it as it is and that's what makes this picture so great.

Would also recommend Menace 2 society, Above the Rim and Higher Learning.

i wouldnt go as far as to say it was awful - i wasnt clock watching throughout but i was waiting for something more to happen.

Snitch
Dwayne Johnson doing what he does best
Snitch

The story is about Dwayne Johnson characters son - who is set up by a friend and busted by the DEA for possession of drugs. He is facing a minimum of 10years and Its Dwayne Johnson's job to get him out. So using his muscle, an employee and some reckless driving this is what he does by getting involved with some notorious king pins of the drug world. The DEA will release his son if he gets them someone bigger and badder.
Unfortunately its all about Dwayne Johnson, you only see his son once or twice during the movie once he's in prison - i felt it would have been much better as a viewer to see his son in prison - struggling. You see him with black eyes, but dont know what happened exactly so you don't form much of a bond with him.
Overall a good action flick, will give you everything you'll be expecting.

i love Celebrity Juice, and was expecting this to be quite funny but unfortunately it wasnt. There was nothing in it you hadn't seen or heard on the TV show. The 85minutes went quickly luckily, cameo appearances from everyone who has appeared on his show, no story line worth talking about.

Man of Steel
Finally..The story has been told properly..
Man of Steel

I was apprehensive about this film - would it be a let down like Thor and Green Lantern? or would it be as good as Iron Man and The Avengers? In fact it surpassed any of the other films in this genre. Henry Cavill was amazing, i felt like i was watching superman not somebody playing him. Michael Shannon was an incredibly intense Zorg, and they adapted Russel Crowe's character as much more than just a voice in superman's head. The fight scenes weren't pointless and irrelevant like in some films, everything in this film was relevant and portrayed perfectly. In my opinion this is the film of 2013, and i recommend anyone to see it.
